Hello,

I just did a clean install of Win98SE. I've noticed that my CPU temp. runs way cooler in both MBM 4.15 and ASUS PCProbe software (I have an ASUS P3B-F Mobo.) than it did with my old install of Win98SE. My old install was on top of Win98 First Ed. Does anyone know if Win98SE has a integrated CPU cooler feature like WinNT? Just by doing a clean install, I've gained the ability to use suspend mode in Windows that I didn't have before. I now have ACPI support in the OS. I wonder if doing a clean install also "woke up" the CPU cooler feature, if it in fact exists. PCProbe shows the CPU at a high temp. when first booted and then a steady decrease until it stays under 90F. Any info. would be helpful. Thank You.

Nope...Win9x does NOT have any Cpu cooling. As for why your getting cooler temps could be attributed to a few things just as a software that you had was not completely shutting down when you "closed" it ect.
