Looking for ideas for web applications...

What would you like to be able to do thru the web? Dynamic content, etc... is always a preference these days. So far, I've gotten a personal address book done thru the web. Would love to hear some feasible ideas. Thanks.

I don't think web-applications will be a success (unless MS provides us with a cheap-global-satellite-high-speed-internet-access).
Mainly because in most countrys you online-costs are still too high to spend so much time online. Only web-applications will be successfull that do things that we do online anyhow (email etc)
But these applications are available even now!! EG: www.popcheck.com (http://www.popcheck.com)
(an online internet mail-thing)

I must admit most people in North America take for granted the accessibility we have to the internet. Broadband is growing so quickly... I remember hearing that people in the UK are charged per minute for a dial-up connection.

But I must say web applications have their advantages. Internet access can be provided almost anywhere. It's the same idea as being able to check email from anywhere. It goes to the same location to grab your email. With web applications, you go to a URL and it still does the same thing for you. As I previously mentioned, I created my own address book. Now if I were in Germany, I could still go online and check for someone's phone number on my address book's website, add someone's name, edit someone's phone number/address, etc. No need to carry around a personal address book.

The other advantage is that it provides a nice interface to do things. With the previous example, the address book talks to a database. In my case, it's just a simple MS Access database... what if people didn't know how to use Access. They can certainly fill out form fields on a web page to do the same thing. Not to mention, it looks a lot better on the web http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif...
