I tried shopvac for the first time on my PII350. My user.dat went from 1,305k to 1,109k and the system.dat went from 6,561k to 6,089k. The computer is working fine and a little zippier I do believe.

How long did it take you?

I have used it and it took about 10 mins on a P3600. I have also heard that it can cause problems but I have to say for me I saw an improvement.

I'm about to try it... before I do-
Does it record the old files so you can go back if it causes problems? Or does it completely overwrite them?

It saves your old files, renames them so you can go back if need be. I saved them in another folder as well. Dont be afeared, and let it run, it may take some time. I have no idea how long mine took, I went to bed and let it run. Be sure to read the whole page that I posted above.
