SoopaStar 07-18-2000, 05:26 PM Thats a **** good question. I get annoyed by that in Windows 2000 as well. I will look into it when i get home tonight. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Its probably a registry entry somewhere. Actually, try this: right click on the shortcut for the explorer and in the target, where it says: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE Change that to: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:\ See if that works http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Paul Underclocked 07-18-2000, 06:25 PM Right click on the desktop in an open space. Select new shortcut and assign properties as: C:\Windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\ where C is the drive your install is on. Give it a nice name. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Mungla 07-18-2000, 06:39 PM Oh man, thanks a ton for that. I was getting really mad at it! :P I'll make sure to burn that onto my docs CD for future reference. So, how has WinMe been working/performing for everyone else out there? AndreStarTrek 07-18-2000, 06:53 PM i work 2 weeks with winme its works almost perfect only some games en QuickTime 3.0 it is very fast buth the restore system i hate it. [This message has been edited by AndreStarTrek (edited 07-18-2000).] SoopaStar 07-18-2000, 10:57 PM you can disable that system restore. i think there is something under the accessories/system area in teh start menu. That thing pissed me off when I was beta testing. At one point, that directory took up over 2 gigs on my hardrive. I manually went into the registry and removed every instance of the restore program files that are found in the c:\windows\system\restore. Then, I rebooted, seleted the files in the above directory and then removed the _restore hidden directory. Only problem--when you reinstall WinMe, all that gets put back. Paul Underclocked 07-19-2000, 12:07 AM System properties in Control Panel, Performance, then File System. Troubleshooting tab, check Disable System Restore. Ceeffa 07-21-2000, 11:32 AM Hey guys, can anyone tell me how many Mb's is Win ME? I was told it was only around 450Mb!! Seems a little small to me, though it would be over 600Mb's Thanks Ceeffa 07-21-2000, 01:02 PM Thanks for the info, i was suprised to hear that i must say!!! Mungla 07-21-2000, 06:35 PM heh, well I'll second your suprise there. When I first got my hands on these copies, I thought that was pretty weird. But, you think about it, the stopped putting all those danged movies on there that we never watched. You ever look around on a Win 95 or 98 CD? You'll find about 200 megs of shotty movies. Mungla 07-22-2000, 12:32 AM You are correct Ceeffa. My full version Windows Me CD is only 428 megs. But, something even more bizarre, my Windows 2000 Professional CD is smaller than that! They both work perfectly fine when upgrading. SysOpt.com
