I would like to know what the programs PC Health and Tune Up Application actually do. They are in my list of scheduled tasks but what is it they are doing?
In my start-up I have the programs LoadPowerProfile, *StateMgr, PCHealth and Scheduling agent. Can someone explain what each one does so that I can decide to prevent them from running or keep it as it is.

Well I'm not running ME but I can tell you a few things...I personally dont use the "auto" stuff that windows wants you to use..I prefer to do maintance and such manually. So I personally would kill the PC health, Tune up and scheduling agent. I would leave the "loadpowerprofile" in your startup if your using any type of power management such as having your HD's power down after so long of no activity and having your monitor go to sleep after so long ect.

As for what exactly PC health and Tuneup does is monitor your system and can be configured to auto run tasks such as Defrag, scandisk and other maintance programs when they are either needed or just timed.

Thanks for the advise MntSnow.

Do you or anyone reading this know what *Statemgr (c:\windows\system\resotre\StateMgr.exe) does?
and also what TaskMonitor (c:\windows\taskmon.exe) does?

Taskmon (task monitor) is the app that allows you to do the ctrl+alt+del and see what apps are running and allows you to kill them.

as for Statemgr. I'm not sure but with it being in the "restore" directory I would a$$ume that it might have to deal with a way to restore or go back to a prior system configuration????

I'm running me and judging from what mntsnow said, i'd say statemgr allows you to restore you system (and registry) to previous configurations... (if you need to get rid of an application or install rotten beta drivers etc...)
