What is this? I watched "The Screensavers" for the first time today. The guy said something like, that it essentially restarts the computer because it runs "autoexec.bat" again. Explanation? Should I do this?

Not really sure what you are asking... The statement that he made about restarting the computer would be technically accurate for win 3.1 or dos computer. In an win 9x every time you open a command prompt you are in essence calling the autoexec.bat and applying the enviroment to the dos box. It certainly does not restart the computer. You can call the autoexec.bat from the command prompt and unless there is an error in it you should not notice any change.

Well you explained the autoexec thing but what is the purpose of Log Off?

it's for networking. is you need to access shared resources with a different user name then you need to log off and log back on, esp if you're authenticating with a NT domain. on an isolated machine, loggin on and off is not really important. just a quirk of windows 9x. NT/2000 has real log on's with profiles.
