Just got a new HD for my wifes computer. when trying to install WIn98 or WIn98SE It will lock up during the hardware scan after the first boot. I removed all cards except for the video and had the same problem. I was able to install Win95 OSR2 w/o a problem. ANy one out there help me out.

System Specs
Asus P2B
Celron 466
96 Megs of ram
Voodoo 3 3000
WD 10.0 GB
Soundblaster AWE 64

So Win95 OSR2 installs okay - hmmm? Sounds like Win98/98SE drivers for something are conflicting all right - and you are saying it installs completely but hangs on the first reboot? Will it then boot into safe mode?

If the old hard disk still has the operating system on it (and you are happy with it) why not just clone the OS onto the new drive?
