Hi,
can somebody tell me how to fit 720Mb Data Cd onto 650 Blank CD-R disk??? Keeping in mind that the person receiving the disk only has WINZIP ...
Are there larger storage capacity CD-R's ??
Thanks

Sorry guy, it's just not possible. The image you create to burn, cannnot be bigger than will fit on the CD media. You might be able to zip up files to gain some space, but the overall size of the data to burn has to be 650Mb (or whatever the media is rated at).

Maybe things aren't so bad! If your CD Writer supports overburning (most new CD-Rs do) you can go buy a CD-R disk of 700MB capacity and write the image you created on it. Of course, the CD burning program you use must also support such disks. However, 720MB simply will NOT fit! Try to reduce that size compressing ALL files using WINZIP at maximum compression. If still not achieving enough compression try another compression program (eg bzip if you are using linux). If still not having enough compression... sorry, no other suggestions http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Wrong! It does work, often a cd image is way bigger than the files inside of it, one 720mb in size will fit onto a 80min/700mb disk, as for a 650mb disk, forget it.

Hi guys. I am very glad to share this peice of information to you. Take a look at this link http://www.maxtarget.com/hardware/cdrom/cd.htm . "It has been a while back with promises of a 99 minutes CD-R media but none ever surfaced. Over 6 months ago we already had offers of several companies who would supply us with the first samples but they never arrived...
Now, after some delays, mostly due to compatibility problems, Traxdata possibly will release a 12x speed CD-R99 Media as of the 19th of June!"
This is some great info. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif. Now the question that I ask my self is : "Do I need a special recorder, and will it be compatible with my HP 7570i ?
If it will work I am very glad as I will be able to put more music on my customized CD's.
