Soooooo, does anyone have experience with graphics tablets? I am considering a tablet because I do Photo retouching and artwork...but now, the tablets are including a cordless mouse with the pen. This way, I can reach my objective of cordless input devices (mouse and keyboard) and a tablet to boot. The two that seem to be in the $100 range are Aiptek Hyperpen 6000 USB and Wacom's Graphire USB. Both have their pros/cons, and I would really appreciate any experiences you have had with these or any other tablet devices. Thanks Much!

What's up with cordless devices? What is the point? I mean, where are you gonna go with your cordless mouse?? Plus you gotta put batteries in it...kind of a pain if you ask me. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Purely convenience. I will not be walking around with it, but I hate wires. Admit it...if there were no constraints (as I am slowly learning that there is), then you would use them too! I am not totally decided yet, but cordless keyboard/mouse is looking grim. In a previous post, though, the cordless input devices got rave reviews.
At anyrate, I am trying to decide on a graphics tablet and I may or may not use the mouse attached to it, 'cause I really just want the tablet for the drawing functionality.
BTW, I am not a gamer, so although response time is important to me, it is all relative. If the response time of the input device will not inhibit my graphics work and business tools, then I am ok with it...until I go Linux - then I'll probably care 'cause it probably wont work.
Several notes to consider -
Avoid USB mice and keyboards - when you go into safe mode - they don't work as the USB ports don't get loaded there.
you can't overclock most cordless devices.
cordless devices typically have a slower reaction / update speed than do corded devices so most gamers avoid them.
Most operating systems don't support USB yet - should you ever decide to try something else, you've got several door-stops in your inventory.....
Otherwise, I can understand that without the cords you are much more free to move around. Just, if you are rendering something and want to look up at the screen to see your progress, you may have to wait with a cordless device to post the input....
Test it on the sales floor after asking friends what they've tried. So - by asking here you're doing good.....
NEVER listen to a computer salesman.....
