I took a look at that article .../fantoggles" and the author went to an awful lot of trouble to control those fans MANUALLY. Why?? If it were me, I'd use temperature sensor IC's at each heat source and turn on the appropriate fan (whose sensor is in it's airstream)when necessary. And automatically! If anyone has an interest, reply to this post and I'll put together a schematic and a bill of materials that I'll e-mail to you. It's a quite simple proposition -- one IC, four resistors, a capacitor, a transistor, two connectors and a LED. The cost will be less than $7.50 per sensor...probably less than $5.00 if you bargain hunt! You can assemble the circuit on a 1 x 1 inch perf board PCB and epoxy the sensor diretly to the IC of interest. This way, you can pretty much let the PC run and cool itself only when necessary! Tony Brydon 06-06-2000, 08:44 PM Well afer going tothe link above I though the gus case with the built in temp probe looked cool so I got my head down and here are the results with the probe as close to the chip on my Geforce as I can get it. It is not 100% accurate but it does give me relative temperatures to work with http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. http://www.zyworld.com/Brydon2/tempmonitor.JPG [This message has been edited by Brydon (edited 06-06-2000).] Szech 06-06-2000, 09:52 PM Hey tonym, can you e-mail me the information for that? I would love to have a 120 mm fan over my CPU / AGP that would kick in only when necessary. Otherwise, my computer would sound like a harrier jet. tonym 06-07-2000, 04:16 PM Szech, YGM...
