I have an old computer which needs to be cleaned up:
120 mhz pentium
32 mb ram
1 gb hard drive
28800 modum
I plan to reformat the hard drive and could load an early version of win95, a later version of win95(w/usb support) or win98 first edition.
which is best??
Hard drive space is scarce, there is no usb or network,

I guess this really depends on the features you are requiring...... win98 will have some extras that were not included in the win95 versions.
However, the hardware requirements for win95 aren't as great as win98 (ie: has lower minimum amt of RAM required, uses less disc space, etc). It would also likley run faster on your machine than win98.
Even if you don't need USB support, I would recommend that you install win95 version B.

The Microsoft links tell me win 95 takes a lot less space than win 98 & 32 bit fat will use less space too, so I'm going to use win 95B
thanks a ton for all your help,
Mike

Here are a couple articles that may be helpfull.
Windows 95 Installation Requirements (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q138/3/49.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0)
Minimum Hardware Requirements for Windows 98 Installation (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ARTICLES/Q182/7/51.asp)
Personally, I prefer Windows 98, but in my opinion you may be unhappy with it because of the size issue and the amount of RAM you have. Depends on what your planning in the near future.

does win95 version b have 32 bit fat?
