Notes for Quad boot:
How to run Win98, Linux, Win2k, BeOS on one computer

The following notes are a condensed version of
the above article.
For me this is enough information to quad boot
(or use any of these together)
, the article goes much more indepth but these notes
are more an easy follow along
for people that know how to use partitions,
the various boot loaders
and have already installed all these OS's before.

Basically follows this rout:
Will use BeOs BootMan to choose between dos, linux, beos
if dos then choose between 98 and 2k
Install in this order - Win98, Linux, Win2k, BeOs

some notes:
1. Backup your data
2. Find out everything about your hardware
HELP: Print Win98 Device Manager
(though you need more info than this)
3. Disable Plug-n-Play in BIOS
4. Install Linux BEFORE Win2000

continued:
1. Disable Plug-n-Play in BIOS
2. Make sure your hardware is supported
(3. Get intimate with your hardware
a. motherboard make and model
b. memory amount and type
c. video card make, model, memory, chips
d. monitor make, possible resoultion settings
e. cd rom, hdd, NIC, sound card
f. get intimate for future reference
HELP: print Device Manager for the long list of
hardware settings)

STEP1 : Win98
*you will put Win98 on 1st partion and make it the
only partition on the drive to begin
1. Free up space for other OS's
2. Make Win98 boot disk
3. Consolidate the Win98 files to one partition,
you can divide Win98 up later
4. FDISK delete all but Primary partition (Win98)

NOTE: you can use the Linux utility FIPS to chop your
FAT32 partition to the size you want from the Linux CD

STEP2 : Linux
1. Setup Linux
a. Custom install, do not install LILO
a. Disk Druid, xxGB root partition, 64MB swap

STEP3 : WIN2000
1. Choose "Clean Install"
2. Select Special Options:Advanced Options:
a. Choose to copy to HDD for faster Install
b. Choose "I want to choose installation partition"
3. After Reboot, set WIN2k partition
a. also make unformatted partition for BeOS

NOTES:
When the Win2000 Setup program is done, it will reboot your PC.
The first thing you'll see is the NT boot loader.
When Win2000 installs, it copies your drive's boot sector
to a file named BOOTSECT.DOS and replaces it with its own
version, which contains the NT boot loader (NTLDR).
The NT boot loader lets you specify which version of Windows
you want to load. If you choose the Win98 option, the boot
loader loads the original BOOTSECT.DOS, and Win98 loads.
If you choose Win2000, the boot loader switches control
to whatever partition Win2000 resides on.
While it's handy for Win98, NT, and Win2000, the NT boot
loader doesn't work well with other OSes. That's why we'll be
using the BeOS's Boot Manager, which is flexible enough to
work alongside the NT boot loader.

STEP4 : BEOS Install
1. Choose your BeOs partition and block size(1024,2048)
2. Setup BootMan
a. Choose bootable partitions (DOS, Linux, BeOS)
b. Win2000 NTFS should not be chosen -
on boot choosing dos, you'll then choose 2k or 98

Yep it works. I have done it.

The only problem is you have two boot managers. But that is really no big deal.

I'm going to try it this weekend without the Linux though.

I no problems with any of the installs.
I just did not care for using two boot managers.

Good luck.
