Problem seen on W98, W98se & NT4. When ever explorer.exe stops responding. I end the offending process and w98 reloads explorer.exe, but the tray icons fail to reload. The applications from the tray bar a still running but the icons don't appear. Is there a way of reloading those icons to the tray bar without restarting the system?

you might want to see if the program "systray" is running. in nt 4.0 this might restore the icons. but if not, your best bet is to reboot the system. if this is happening on a regular basis, maybe you should reinstall.

Apparently the systray is running (W98). I say this because the speaker icon is visible and also the clock, but the other icons that were are no more (Wow, sounds like poetry!). I was hoping to find a way to maybe reload the systray with some switch or something to reload the icons. But thanks anyway for your fast response. By the way, in NT4 I can see that the systray is running from the tast manager.
