Let me know some of the online job listing sites you guys tend to favor. I've already been to dice.com, itjobs.com, careerpath.com, and a few others, but fire away anyway.

ComputerJobs.com is by far the best ive seen for anyone in the field.

Last summer i got my first computer job, before that it was hard labor for my dads business. all i did was look in the newspaper classifieds, and sent out some resumes. I knew some HTML, VB and my way around computers, they gave me chance, so now im makin a decent amount of $$ off it, not too bad, it helps pay off college and is good expirience.

best job you will ever have is the one where you WANT to get up in the morning and go to it regardless of the pay....I know people that make many more times what I do but they ***** about work everyday and the people they work with and I just cant see that...

Amen to that one Codybear. Most of the jobs I've had, they hire me and tell me that I'm going to be doing something I enjoy, be it database development or website stuff, and then maybe 2-3 months later, I end up doing nothing but data entry. I've gotten very sick of it. I want to go to school, so I've got a little more clout in situations like that, but to make a long story short, I dug myself a nice, deep, debt hole I've gotta get out of first, and it's gonna be a full-time job and full time school if I want to make a go of it.

Check out the following site: http://www.rhic.com/jobsRHIC/index.html

These guys are a tech temp agency among other things. They should be able to help you find a starter job or at least gain some experience.

ALSO, never underestimate the power of the telephone tree. Last time I found myself in need of work I hit the tree and asked for leads or helpful comments. Within my first 3 days I had spoken with about 85 people who had all provided me with more names of other people to talk to.

This also provides osme introduction (i.e. "I was speaking with Tom Smith the other day and he mentioned that you might be a good person to talk to. Here's my plight...") By having a good introduction you get their attention unlike the "answering a telemarketer's phone call" response. Just remember you will hold their attention for the first 30 seconds, so try to compress your need within that space - sound like you are in control and not desperate.

Everyone knows someone. I got a very nice lead, for example from a 60 year old sheriff whom I took out to lunch to discuss my predicament. She knew absolutely nothing about computers. She did know people in the sheriff's department who knew people though....you get the point.

Friend's help friends and in this industry it helps to know and help as many as you can.
