You problably have an ATX case....PUSH and HOLD the power button for about 4-5 seconds and it will then power off http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

hey i installed win2k and when i do shut down my computer sayz its safe to turn your computer off but when i push the button in the front it stays on and i have to use the switch in the back to turn it off. any help?

if indeed you need to hold your power button to shut off the computer, you can set up advanced power management settings so that you computer shuts off by itself. i have forgotten exactly where they are, but if you right click on the desktop and then go to properties, i believe you can set it up within one of those tabs. hope this helps ya....

Thanks Deep_sky. That was an excellent suggestion. It fixed me right up.

I took that one step further and configured power management to use "sleep" button on my MS keyboard to shut down. It shuts down very quickly now.
