Sorry if this has been doen B4 (couldn't find anything in the 'search'), but what are the advantages in upgrading to ME?
Are there the compatability problems associated with W2k? (my scanner and CD burning software will not work with W2k, so 2k is out).
Can I get and run an upgrade disk like you can when you go from, say W3.11 to W95? I haven't re-formatted my c:\ drive for a long time and I'd like to keep it that way http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I just want to shove the upgrade disk in and that's that, rather than it taking most of the day! Is this possible??
TIA,
Krusty.

Great response rtyp3!DUH! It will be released on June 13
Millennium is based on the 9X kernel and you will not have the problems you had in 2000. YOu may want to keep an eye out for those drivers and reinstall 2000 when they are out.
If you do a search for Windows ME you should find several threads here in the OS forum.

Millennium is much faster and stable than 98 is but not as stable as 2000. I have RC0 installed and I like it. The GUI is much like that in 2000.

I would be wary of Win ME right now. There is a report in the Windows Insider newsletter about apps that are having problems with Windows Me RC-1. The list is as follows:
AtGuard FireWall, Norton Internet Security 2000, Shiva VPN Client
6.60, SecuRemote v.4118, IntelliPoint 3.x, Black ICE Defender,
PGP Security, Drive Copy, Fix-It 2000, PartitionMagic, Nuts &
Bolts, Drive Image, GuardDog, Inoculan AntiVirus, Norton
Utilities, Iomegaware 2.2.1, PC-Cillin 6.0, Fix-It, CleanSweep,
MS Backup, Conseal PC Firewall, Adobe PageMill 3.0, Adobe
Premiere 5.1, AOL 5.0, Bookshelf 2000, BullsEye 2.0, Check It 98,
Dr. Solomon's AntiVirus, Encarta World Atlas 2000, FrontPage
2000, FirstAid 2000, HoTMetaL Pro 6.0, Juno 3.0, Mindspring 3.0,
Money 98, Norton SystemWorks, Norton AntiVirus, Norton Your Eyes
Only, Office 2000 (minor problem with Web folder locations),
Oracle 8.1.5 Personal Edition, pcAnywhere, PowerDesk Utilities,
PrintShop Deluxe 10.0, Project 2000, Publisher 2000, QuickBooks
2000, Sybergen SyGate 3.1, Visual Basic 6.0, Word 97, Word 2000
(very minor). Plus, any DOS app that adds entries to AUTOEXEC.BAT
or CONFIG.SYS will run into trouble.
Look before you commit at this point!

Just remind me what month it is.... could it be June, by any chance?
Cheers, CC!
The only one I might have trouble with is Orifice 2000 (kind of ironic eh?). Hmmm... might wait for the 'second edition'
There seems to be a pattern to Microshaft inoperating systems....?

I am running RC1.
No problems for me with Front page 2000 or Office 2000. Some minor problems with partition magic 5, can;t resize the win me partition, needs to go into DOS to do it, but works for doing everthing else. I have had problems running anything in DOS.
Thanks for the info.
