Ok, I need some opinions here. If you had to choose one of the following, which one would you pick? Including reasons would be great but not required http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif:
Exterior color
--------------
Guards Red:

or
Arctic Silver:

Interior color
--------------
Savanna Beige (exteror here is silver):

or
Black:

You make the choices sound so tough... it's a Porsche for crying out loud. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
red then silver, with black interior on either one. personal taste
You're odds of getting pulled over are increased with red, though.
The red just looks awesome.I think the black interior would look better, but the beige is a close second and would be a lot cooler on summer days. Joel is right about the red getting you pulled over easier, but with that kind of car they are going to be watching you anyway. EWBX must be treating you pretty good. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

<body colors= "exterior='silver' ('#C0C0C0')"
"interior='black' ('#000000')">
(just had to use some HTML since i haven't in over 4 hours, in case you wan't to know why i wrote it like that.)
as for reasons... because it looks good. as
joel mention, "it's a Porche!"
the red is too flashy and shiny. the red is more likely to have more body-related problems as NO red car paint in existence is completely rust-free. the silver just looks good.
as for the interior, i just think that the black looks good. and i really dislike that creme (or whatever) color with silver (and in general).
hope i could help you figure out what colors to choose. you could also "lend" me the money and i'll buy it "for" you. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Hi all!
Flash is what a Porsche is all about. I like the red. If your speeding and get caught your gonna get pulled over regardless of the color. If the officer likes your car maybe he wont cite you. Either color go with black interior.

http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Red and gray are two of the highest insurance colors from what I remember (red because it supposedly makes you go faster and angrier, gray because it matches the road well). Why not one of each? But porsches are supposed to be flashy. Go with the red. If it were something like a jag or a miata I would go with something like forest green or silver.

Silver on silver would be my choice.

I have never liked red Porsche's, that colour should belong to Ferrari or Alpha Romeo. Silver with black interior. Upkeep shouldn't be a big deal...typical Porsche owners never let them get dirty. LOL

Red exterior MAY increase your insurance rates, although they may be at their peak when you take title to that car!
But think about it. If you didn't want attention, to turn heads of men in envy, and women in respect and lust... (hmmmmm.......)
oh yeah.. anyway, you gotta get red exterior, and probably black interior (possibly tan..)
Classic muscle-car configuration. You can't get the original competition orange or purple like the 70's challengers (HA!) So red and black are the colors of choice. You get the car, you deserve the attention. "Look at me I am big, I am bad, and I have arrived!

Sorry but neither one
I prefer BLACK with Beige interior.
You did mention Black didn't you?
The colour of a car is a hard choice.
Red;
Looks amazeing, shows the curves well. However, it's a vibrant colour which means you may tire of it more easily. As for cops....a cop is going to notice a porsche no matter what colour.
Silver;
Shows the curves very well. It seams everyone has been getting this colour for the last few years. It keeps clean looking easily. It's too bland for my taste, and takes away from the porsche IMHO.
Black
Slick, slick, slick. It's sexy and slightly understated at the same time. It's hot and hard to keep clean looking though.
Interior is almost more important, as it's where you spend the time.
With the red exterior, you pretty much have to go black or tan. You can't get slicker than black leather. Leather does pretty well in the sun as well. Tan (I have it in the beamer) is nice....but it gets dirty (looking) easier. It also can look bad because it can take the attention off the exterior, esspesially in a roadster. I'm not sure I can get that thought accross right, but you may know what I'm talking about. With the silver exterior, you have to go black IMHO. Tan doesn't go because it's two base tones. The grey on grey looks cheap....as all grey interiors do. (unless any of you have one, then they're great! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif)
Personaly I would either go with black/black, or red/black. The black/black just because it's bad*ss. The only bad things about black is that it hides the curves a bit and it's hard to keep clean looking...but if I owned a boxter I'd take the time to keep it spotless regardless of colour. The red/black is sexy. Well kept red paint looks wet and deep...and fast! Red just makes cars looking they're going, even when they're just sitting there.
Porsche has many nice colours, but black, red, silver.....those are classic, and they'll never go out of style.

hard one here ,black int;cool looking less likely to look dirty beige:looks classy especially when immaculate but if a little dirty ,takes away that little something. exterior; depend on your personnality, r u flashy or more discrete? i personnaly would (since its so expensive anyway)have it painted a custum color of my own i have a mustang with a color of my own (that will kick major porshe *** on a straight highway not in the curves no no )mine is purple-blue with lilac pearl in it if you want it special go custum. show it to us when you get it. happy driving http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for everyone's insight. I saw a silver with black interior in person today and it just didn't do it for me. Seems too plain. I know of one that I can get my hands on next month (to buy - there is a 12 month waiting list to order and there are none available at dealerships) but I'm not sure silver does it for me like red:

I'm still hoping regardless of colour you're looking at the "S"....
http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
SysOpt
03-23-2000, 11:15 PM
Yeah still considering the "S". Though the 2000 model Boxster does have 217hp so it's nothing to scoff at, but the S's 252hp + 6spd is important to me http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif. To all the BMW fanatics out there, yeah I know the M Roadster is faster (5.2s from 0-60 instead of 5.9s) and cheaper, but I like the Boxster better so :P, http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.
So, here's the latest deal:
I can have silver with black for $5k over MSRP and take delivery in April, or any colors and options I want with a factory order and take delivery in July or August. I saw a silver one go by today and it looked pretty cool.. Hrm.. I'm renting the red one again this weekend to make sure and will probably decide on Monday. I know it seems silly to be hung up on color choices but this is a lot of dough and I want to choose wisely.

Well, another 2c... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
Silver is almost the factory colour..and ya know? there is no substitute for HP...if you don't get it...you will eventually be dissatisfied...even my Turbo didn't have enough after a while...you get "used" to it...and then bored with it...
btw...with factory order...have you considerd picking it up at the factory....they are great that way...drive it there..cruise for a week, then they ship it to your dealer...
http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Yeah my uncle was talking about that factory deal except with bmw's....you get a vacation and the price is about the same. Mmmmm, autobahn!
Yeah the M Roadster is faster, cheaper, and costs less to maintain.....but, it's not a Porsche. Still, for that dough, it wouldn't hurt to test drive one just to compare.
Anybody know when the Audi TT turbo is going to be avalible?
Dont they offer Vipers for sale where you live???...(sure a PIII450 is adequate, but wouldnt you rather have a gig???) Geez for just a couple bucks more, you could have some REAL fun...ahhhh springtime is MEANT for convertables!!! :-)

A viper is too much car for me. I've pretty much decided on a Boxster S in Guards Red with Savanna Tan interior. I really do like silver, but I think I can pull off the red at my age - at 40 or so, maybe not so well without looking like I'm in a midlife crisis http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Found one someplace, remarkably, new, with 80 miles on it.
If I ordered one and did the tourist delivery, with the plant tour, track run, and what not, it would be about a 6-12 month wait at least. That's a bit too long. The one I found can be here in 2 weeks.

Sweet Scott!
I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures!
does it matter what colour it is surley just having the damm thing is enough (i want one tooooooo!!!!!)

It really does not matter about the exterior color. Look at the interior to see if there is a blonde in the passenger seat.

So it sounds like you are convinced in getting a Boxter. Will it be new or used?
I would recommend a black interior. This way the entire interior will match. It will all be black. All Porsche interiors (any color) will have the trim black anyway, unless you are pruchasing a new car yet to be built. You can special order any "complete" interior color, but otherwise several trim pieces will be black. Also, if you choose an interior that is brown, there will be a few shades of brown that go nicely together, but they will always be slightly different colors.
My Turbo has a black leather interior and I wouldn't trade any color scheme that I have ever seen for one that is all black.
Exterior colors are another matter. It is all personal preferance as all the exteriors that are factory are very nice. The paint is right, all body panels fit nicely and they all match as they are all painted at the same time.
Between silver and red, I would lean toward silver simply because it doesn't show dirt as much as red. One of my other Porsches is red and it is very beautiful when it is clean, but it shows all dirt. My silver Porsche is one of my favorites as it doesn't have to be "just-washed" to look magnificient.
Again it is all personal preference, but at least this is my two cents worth.
Happy motoring and I hope to see you someday at a track event. (Every Porsche ever built is a race car!).
SysOpt
04-05-2000, 12:22 AM
I'm not 100% convinced yet but leaning that way. Thanks for the comments. If I do it, it will be a 2000 Boxster S. I've considered the Carrera, but at >$85k, it just doesn't offer that much more than the Boxster IMO.
Right now I have the option to go with a red with tan or a silver with black (the red is available now, the silver is inbound and due this month). Otherwise, I'll have to keep waiting for others to become available, or get on a dealer's list to order one months from now.
Sounds like you have quite a bit of Porsche experience. Happy with them overall? Reliability? Service, etc?
Thanks,
Scott

Black...in & out. It's so cool (now there's a contradiction!) IMO, enigmatic almost. True, it's hard to keep clean (take my word for it...my Supra is black in & out) but it forces you to take care of it. It's worth it though, looks great!

They're both beautiful... if it were me (and it probably never will be http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif) I would go for the silver/black, even though I know the black interior would get much too hot. Somebody said that silver has more class, and they're right.
Though I'd like to _own_ the silver car, that doesn't mean I could resist a ride from a guy in the shiny red Porsche!

Thanks Jeana http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I'm leaning towards Silver/Black. There is one due in late this month. Red is awesome, but for a "daily-driver", might be a bit much for me. As a toy car that I keep in the garage, wipe with a diaper, and drive once a month, yeah, I'd go with red more than likely.
As for black, yeah it's very cool too, but my Bimmer is black and I'm not sure it's my color.
The only way I would go with a 911 is if I did the 2001 911 Turbo, and that starts at $111k (and the first ones are selling at about $15k over MSRP, I believe). A bit too much for a single car IMO.

Go with the silver exterior and black interior.
First - It says CLASS, all the way!
Second - Nothing reflects light and catches the eye like silver.
Third - Silver looks great even if it has a little dust on it.
Fourth - Silver doesn't show those inevitable surface scratches and swirl marks.
Fifth - I and every female I know will turn our heads to watch you drive down the street in a silver Porsche. If you were driving a red one we'd do the same thing, but after you'd passed we'd snicker and say, "Can you say mid-life crisis?" (This is if you're over 30 and yes, I know it's not fair, but you can see it happening can't you?)
So from you post in Joel E3 pics post (http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/006355.html) it sounds like you've decided to get the silver/black S model....true?

Or you could go for a nice, comfortable quiet, car - style over flash - or combine the two with a Jag.
Our Chairman bought a red porche (his last car was a BMW 325i Bauer convertable - **** off a shovel acceleration - but smelt like old socks with the damp mould on the convertable roof. Porche is less fun than Beama (keeps getting speeding tickets) and a bit tackier at his age (he is 50).
In the USA, do you get to go much above 70mph ? (sorry don't know what that is in Kmh)- the TV over here always shows 60Kmh max on your roads.
