Yay! I am finally getting a broadband internet connection!

Although DSL and Cable modems are unavailable in my area and satellite communications is undesireable, I am still getting a broadband internet connection! I am getting ISDN by the end of June! I know that ISDN is the least prefferable method of broadband access, and the services that it brings are not worth the price tag, but a simple dial-up connection can no longer be tolerated. So until DSL or Cable modems are available, I'll be stuck with ISDN, which I must say, has got to be a hell of a lot better than a modem. I wish godspeed to the DSL and Cable access that is surely coming! Then I can switch over. But until then, its ISDN for me! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Hello,

Chipbgt - It's going to be a long time of unhappiness for you. I just went from 28 to 56 in my area.

41.7 Kbps
5.1 K bytes/sec

Horrible dial-up's p!ssing me off, too! Only an ISDN connection costs the same per month (for me) as the full monthly subscription to SkyTV.

So glad I got Cable Modem. Feel sorry for you guy's who don't. But the truth is, it is slow sometimes (accessing at reg modem spped), the real beauty is very fast downloads and no disconnect's.

I want to get cable... but I am worried that as more and more people in my area get cable, and since it is shared bandwidth, that it won't be much faster than my modem, and I will be paying twice as much. My friend got cable almost immediately when it was offered in my area, and he says that he has seen a drop in speed since it has gotten more popular. Maybe I should pay the $50 for DSL, which has a slower capacity than cable...

cable speed will come and go, it all depends on how quick your ISP is at adding extra hubs to handle the influx...I live in a backwater county that for some reason has cable..I think our 2000 capacity hub has around, 200 people on it. I am happy http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
