Well I hate to say it but you wont get much advise until you give us better infomation such as
System configuration
What programs you are running
What exactly is the problem
When does the problem happen ie: what were you doing when it "crashed" ect ect

I had a similiar problem before. In fact that was the only time I ever crashed W2K. I tracked it down to my NIC and Video card using the same IRQ. Ever since I fixed that it has been great.

I have Creative Voodoo Banshee card ( 16MB)
128 PC 133,
450mhz K6-2 on an EPOX MVP3C mobo,
Realtek NIC,
I/Omega DVD drive
Memorex CDR drive
2 HD, 27 GB Maxtor 5200 RPM and 6.4 GB Maxtor (NTFS partition),
Motorola and Rockwell modem 56k (PnP)
Creative Labs Soundblaster AWE32

and crashes happens whenever I use the comp for a while... Even if I just leave the comp on w/o doing anything, it just crashes... =(
Please help me out guys.. Thanks

Crashes or simply reboots? Go to the control panel, admin tools, event viewer and check to see if the system is recording an event just before each crash. If so post what you find please.

Also double check your cooling. Make sure none of the fans are shutting down without you knowing. Try running it with the case cover off and see if that helps.

and last but not least...due to the hight volume of people on this and other bbs having "stabiblity" problems is your copy of win2K NOT a eval or beta copy?

Underlocked, well.... It's not logging anything... Maybe because it just locks up my system.. And also mntsnow, I have the FULL release of win2k pro... It's not a beta or aything like that... Please help me out.. Just like a while ago I was trying to reply to this BBS, but I can't... Cause it locks up and I have to re-boot it 10 times.. ;(
Do u guys think installing the Norton Utilities 2000 will take care of the problem?? Help pls.. Thanks

What are you doing when it locks up? Are you sure all of your programs and hardware drivers are Win2K approved? You still havent mentioned your system temps...are you positive it's not a heat related issue?

well my system temp is ok.... no problem about the temp.. and my hardwares and softwares are win2k certified, in fact I don't even need to install the drivers that comes w/ my hardwares... and it locks up just whenever.. cause I don't have to run anything or do anything, it just locks up..
=( I'm really, really lost about this win2k.. please don't gett annoyed about my messages.. I just really like this win2k but the lockups.. please help.. thanks

also, the strangest thing.. since I got a voodo banshee by creative labs, win2k installed its 3dfx Interective Banshee driver, and it doesn't have an assigned IRQ...Is that ok??

Do you have "Assign IRQ to VGA" enabled in the bios? With it locking up even when your not doing anything would first make me think you have some type of hardware problem such as bad memory, corrupted drivers for a piece of hardware ect. You might also check to see what "services" are automaticaly running at startup.

Dont worry I'm not annoyed with your questions..Just those that are using PIRATED software and want my free time to support it<lol>

yep.. I have assign IRQ to VGA enabled on the bios.. but you know what though?? I got this banshee driver ( not signature by microsoft ) installed and replaced the one that comes with the windows, and it's been working fine for quite some time now.. I'll keep you posted when it locks up again (fingers crossed)... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
