They were cutting trees down here at my school, so I got one of the logs, a metal post and a sheet of plywood...

And over the course of five days, I cut the log in half, I cut a space for the post (the post serves as a support), I laquored the wood and the log, and I built this:

The bench is STRONG. That metal post really does its job well. And it's also really sturdy because I used a belt sander to make sure the bottom was level. Anyway, I'm really proud of this, so I just wanted to show it off to you all http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif!

Very nice http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. If you had a laptop without a modem you could sit on that to log on to the net http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif. But remember and don't sit on it for too long or you will get a benchmark http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif.

Or don't lean too far back or you will crash and see a very big BSOD(if it's nice and sunny out)! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif That's a cool bench, but make sure the stumps are dried out and then seal them up with waterseal or somethin' cause the termites will eat it up http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

You crack me up Brydon http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif. Hey, if it crashes, I hope its POST is okay! Get it? metal post? Power On Self Test? nevermind. Heh heh... BSOD... Anyway, I let the stump dry out in the sun for about a week, and I used Thompson's all weather protecter on the log Gutter Ball http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. I can tell it's thoroughly dried out, because when I was drilling some pilot holes, the sawdust that came off the drill bit was dry.
Thanks for your congrats everyone, I'm really proud of my work http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif.
