My clock along with my Uncle's, brother's and fathers comp keeps changing, usually after several boots. Very unusual, yet very annoing, Maybe a post Y2K deal here, (lol) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

How many machines are you talking about? 2, 3, 10? And how much time passes between boots? Not much info, but you might try changing the round (available at RadShack) battery on your mobos.

Good luck.

How much is the time changing each time?

My computer loses 20 to 40 seconds over a few days, inbetween when I update to the atomic clock time.

we all seem to lose an hour, I haven't really looked into what's doin it, I haven't had the time to reboot constantly until I get a result, we all tend to leave the machines on all day. My uncles machines are at a different location (same town though)

You all happen to have Norton Antivirus
version 6, (aka Norton 2000)?

Is that a known issue with Norton Utilities/Antivirus 2000?

I lose a few minutes every now and then...

The little round battery is just the clock battery, usually. the bIOS battery sjould be seperate, so no, you wouldn't lose the bios info if you change the clock battery.

There is a known issue with Norton 2000, in my case (with 3 different systems) the time will be almost exacly 1 hr slow. Happens about 2 or 3 times a week. Norton offers a patch that they claim helps most people, but reading thru there support site would suggest otherwise. Here is a thread from this forum from a couple weeks ago.

Sorry guys but it cant be the battery, it would be too much of a coincidence for the batteries to all go out at the same time, and if the battery went bad it would lose time all the time not just at random, but thanx for tryin, Dave-H on the other hand might have the right solution, we are all running norton 2000, so therefore I will give the patch a try,, I'll keep my fingers crossed, and I'll let you guys know how it works out. Again, thanx for ALL POSTS!!

Hello Dave,

Thank you for using Symantec Online Technical Support.

I apologize for the problems with the system clock as well as the fact
that is as of yet has not been corrected. The good news if that this
problem has been identified and our development team is working on a
permanent "fix" for this issue. At this time there is no exact ETA of
when it will be available however, I would expect this update to be
available in the very near future. Please keep an eye on our support
website and continue to run LiveUpdate to stay current with all of the
updates as they become available. Again, I apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you,
Mike Trathen
