I don't think it exists, but does anyone know if a Socket 7 --> Celeron converter exists? If so, where would I get one?

But none of those can be used with newer Intel Cpu's or Amd's. About the only way you can use a celeron in a socket 7 board would be the evergreen PCI bus Celeron processor upgrade from Evergreen technologies. And I really dont know how well it works or whether its a cost effective approach towards what you want or not. But I do know you can fit a Celery 466 on it and as thats about the only way you would ever run a celeron Intel CPU on a socket 7 mo-bo.. hhh8785 06-05-2000, 07:32 PM What is so special about the Celeron 466 that it can fit and a Celeron 400 or 500 couldn't? RobRich 06-05-2000, 07:37 PM The PCI upgragde board from Evergreen is actually a small BX chipset m/b. When you system posts, it take control of all system operations. You can effectively used any s370 Celeron with it. It a s370 socket, a memory slot, and a few jumpers for configuration. Though, it's not a viable upgrade path, as it costs a much a brand new motherboard anyway. Robert Richmond Meat Puppet 06-06-2000, 01:36 AM Thanks for clearing that up Rob, I knew it worked as a seperate mainboard of sorts. I wasn't aware it cost as much as a mainboard though. Kinda defeats its own purpose on that note. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif P.S. youre not limited to a 466. The kit I seen in a review came pre packaged with one thats all, sorry for the confusion. If you could just gimme a few that would help. bdunn 06-06-2000, 02:52 PM "What processors can go on a socket 7 other than a Pentium? If you could just gimme a few that would help." Depending on the available voltages and bus speeds the entire K-6, K-6/2, and K-6/3 lines. If you give us the modle number of the board we can be more specific. hhh8785 06-06-2000, 07:56 PM Well by this time, I am surprised that not everyone here knows that I don't know what model of Mobo I got. I do have a few pieces of information, but noone has been able to find out what model I have. My mobo is made by this company: HSING TECH ENTERPRISE CO., LTD. (=PcChips). Pretty much, it is a PCChips mobo. It is not from America, it is international. The BIOS # is: 52-0114-001437-00101111-071595-SIS530-001_01_SIS530-H The BIOS are AMIBIOS made by MEGATRENDS, release date 01/12/1999 On the bottom of my mobo, it says "Plato" and has "BA" inside of a diamond shape. Under that is written E-VO, under that is a P, under that is 9904. If anyone has any idea at all how I could find out what model this is, I would be about the most gracious person on earth if it worked. I have been told ways to do it, but this motherboard seems to be a mystery. It is like it doesn't exist. SysOpt.com
