My Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, have to use the keyboard only all day every day, as they are both blind and so the mouse is a bit redundant really, as is the monitor.

They have a nice Athlon 650, with 128meg RAM, 16meg TNT2, 10.5gb Disk etc. and all they use it for is Win98/Office2k/IE5 etc. Criminal huh, think of all that UT goodness that could be gleaned from that spec http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

They use a speech synthesizer and braille terminal for "displaying" there work etc.

Interesting huh??

Lee.

Wow, it seems to get harder and harder for blind people everyday. All of this computer stuff is just something that won't be easy for them to do... I have heard about some new technology that has allowed blind people to see though, by hooking up a camera to certain parts of the brain. Cool

Yes it is amazing what the technology today can allow blind people to do. But the fact that they continue on with there daily life is cool. It makes us think of how lucky we our and catches us taking advantage of our eyesight.
