Hey,

I thought I saw a tip somewhere for downloading the Windows updates without installing them, but a prolonged search of the Sysopt message board turned up nothing. Anybody remember how to do it?

I'm trying to update my father's Win98SE, but his modem connection is so slow that I'm forced to download the software from work.

i really don't know how to... but you might try this (ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/) or maybe this (ftp://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) or maybe even this (ftp://ftp.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/), but i don't know if any of them might be what you need... you can just look around on those ftp sites and try to find the files that you need.... to find out the files that you need, you could just e-mail microsoft windows update and ask them... just explain to them your situation and maybe they can give you special rights to their ftp site or something..... i don't know... i have never encountered such a problem, but i think that they'll be understanding as long as you e-mail a real and actual person about it...

just look on their page (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and look for a customer service page or something.... i hope this helped some....

P.S. i will look around sysopt and see if i can't find what you're looking for....
