Who wants a $99 internet computer?
http://www.linux-hacker.net/ http://i-opener-linux.net/

These links will teach you how to buy a I-Opener, WebSurfer, or whatever else is out there, and modify it to use one of the free ISPs instead of using theirs.

Imagine using a dedicated computer just to surf & read email. Less lockups on your good computer!

If anyone knows any other devices, please reply, or if you have any other questions.

Actually, this has come up before. They [Netpliance] now require that you buy three months of service, and if you try to cancel you are charged 500 bucks. Also it takes an extra 150 min to change it into a computer. It is cheaper to get a 810 mobo and add ram proc and a hard drive.

Within a week or two Netpliance is raising the price to 200, so this was only a deal about two months ago. You cannot get the product from Circuit City or Compusa without waiting for four months or more (if you even get one).

I am not saying that you should not get one, but after reading the underhanded and illegal things that they have done to their customers to make their stockholders happy, I would advise that you do what I am. Wait until they are shutdown/go bankrupt and buy the units at pennies in the dollar on eww-bay or yahoo.

I think it is a great computer for a car mp3 player due to its size and display.
