Sharing with Napster, hmmm....

When you go into preferences in Napster you can tell it what folder to look in for the MP3's you want to share right? Well, when I do that, it doesn't seem to matter. I have over 700 songs with a 56k connection so to cut down on lag I wanted to only alow my recent songs in a separate folder. (otherwise I can only get 1 or 2kb/s from everyone in the world downloading from me, sometimes my connection is so slow from this that I can't even IM easily) I even tested out separating my MP3 folders and sharing on my second HDD to no avail... It seems no matter what I do, Napster still knows ALL of my songs and makes them available for download... hmmm...
This is why I don't use Napster from this computer anymore, but it should work right???

I am using the Napster v2 beta5 ( the same one everyone else has I think and is the only version I have even heard of. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I had the same problem until I upgraded to V2 Beta 6. No more problems, and overall it works a lot better than Beta 5.

I got Napster beta v2 6 or whatever it is called. I never used 5, so it might be different, but I don't want people to download from me so after I download every song I just move it to another folder and it isn't downloadable anymore. Like I said, i never used 5, so it might be different, but that is how I deal with that problem.

Beta 5 was kind of different in that regard. Once you shared a folder (for me anyway) you couldn't unshare it. You could take it off the "Share" path, but it would still be shared. Beta 6 fixed that nicely.

Eli: that was the problem exactly, I had shared my main folder when I started using Napster and it just wouldn't let me change it even when I changed the path.

i just regedit to fis it....but i don't even bother with napster anymore, prefer cutemx or scour exchange

I can share and unshare any folders when I want to.
