Startup programs

Just went into my Startup program and noticed that I've got quite a few doubles listed in there i.e.(Load power profile, webscanX, Mcaffe Vshwin, and a few others) My question is how to remove the double listings. Thanks in advanced.

go in to system informatin in system tools then tools then system configuration utility then startup and uncheck any doubled settings and or any thing else you do not wont to start at boot up reboot system and you've got it /forum/smile.gif

Do NOT remove the 2 powerprofiles! If you do you will have problems! I will see if i can find my information on what exactly both profiles do..but trust me..if you want your power to work correctly LEAVE IT ALONE! /forum/smile.gif

i removed my powerprofiles shortly after i installed win98 - never had any problems...

i think we've discussed this before, mntsnow, eh? /forum/smile.gif never did come up with a final decision either way, tho, if i remember correctly... maybe better luck this time 'round

I thought that was concerning the SYSTRAY...Not the power. When I disable my power profiles I can not suspend or have my monitor go to sleep or have my harddrives spin down (I run my systems 24/7 so I needed those options!)

Thanks, but what I want to do is to remove all the double programs like all the doubles from my virus scan right now I have about fifteen programs in there and at least 6 are double programs, I went into my regedit and found 2 run folders with the double programs I don't really like messing with the registry

mntsnow - yeah, i think you are right, it was the systray - but i know there was someone that i was discussing the power profiles with - guess i got topics/people mixed up - my mind has been a jumble lately /forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the tip on using the system info program, amazing what u get for your money ?! I am after some further help. Dunno what I did but now everytime I startup i get a dial up internet window. This is pretty annoying, how do I shift it. Also , what out of this lot should be running on win98 system running nothing but windows98.
