Say it aint so, Scott... akaBruno 06-02-2000, 06:28 AM Jesse Berst is predicting the end of Earthweb and other dot coms/ http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/stories/story/0,10738,2580735,00.html akaBruno 06-02-2000, 02:29 PM I must admit, I do like ZDTV. But, just to be on the safe side, maybe we should start clicking some ads around here. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Warthog 06-02-2000, 02:36 PM Good idea Bruno. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Out of curiousity, how much would someone make per click? I know this is a MAJOR site and the amount is probably bigger than "smaller" sites but I'd like to know. Any guesses? Warthog SysOpt 06-02-2000, 06:43 PM Well, what's true is that at the present time, EarthWeb is spending more money than the it is making. However, with each passing quarter, EarthWeb's revenues have been increasing. And according to Henry Blodget, analyst for Merrill Lynch, EarthWeb has enough cash to carry the company through to profitability. ZD even published an article stating that fact near the end: http://www.zdnet.com/zdtv/zdtvnews/features/story/0,3685,2470883,00.html Scott Richard_Cranium72 06-02-2000, 08:55 PM Looks like a buying opportunity to me. Today we were discussing our parent company's stock drop, most companies suffer devaluation during expansionist times. We too are expanding, like EarthWeb, into foreign countries. Looks like a BUY! -" In 1999, EarthWeb was ranked the third fastest growing company within Business Week's Info Tech 100." - " Research Summary Important Disclaimer Information Number of brokers recommending as:---strong Buy 4 Moderate Buy 5 Hold 0 Moderate Sell 0 Strong Sell 0 http://biz.yahoo.com/z/a/e/ewbx.html "Robertson Stephens analyst Steven Birer issued a 21 page Company Report on Earthweb, Inc. Report highlights: 'The company is leading player in the vertical portal market. The company reported 1Q00 EPS of ($0.67) versus ($0.64) in the year-ago period. A BUY rating was reiterated. The company should generate earnings growth of 50% over the next five years." Disclosure: EarthWeb is a competitor of Ziff-Davis, ZDNet's parent company. Warthog psyklone 06-03-2000, 12:30 AM this could be a legal issue ... the way they are trying to instill fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD). isn't that a tactic exclusive to microsoft? get the lawyers on the phone! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif mgordon99 06-03-2000, 12:36 AM Isn't Ziff-Davis connected with or owned by Microsoft? I heard that somewhere. SysOpt.com
