Im gunna have another machine up by the time I can buy a Geforce (poor right now /forum/frown.gif) and pass down my 'old' TNT to my 'parts' pile and make a new comp outta em. I saw them downloads, but once im in the FTP, im completely lost! (to usta downloading a zip file and unzipping it..and thats it =P)
Anyways..I dont know what to do. If all else fails, Ill just run Win98 on it. This comp will be used for RC5 and network gaming at home when friends come over (if i can get Linux, ill set up dual boot and use Win98 for games)...thats about it.

If you want to get Linux for free... well you'll need a lot of patience and I mean a lot.
Download it at: ftp://ftp.cdrom.com or go to TUCOWS and they have links to other sites were you can download it.
If you have a CD burner well better use it cuz this baby really can take a lot of space.

Edge, If you have a Network card and Cable Modem, its much easier =). But.. , if not, you can go to an FTP for Redhat 6.0 (only ever done Redhat), like heres one
ftp.linuxberg.com/pub/distributions/Redhat/Current/i386/Redhat, then go to the images directory, download boot and bootnet, into like C:\redhat, then download the whole directory base, C:\redhat\base, then rpms, C:\redhat\rpms i think. You SHOULD only need those. Go to the earlier directory dosutils, get the prog. rawrite, run it, write both images to 2 floppies, one is right one for HD install, one is wrong, lol sorry cant say which. Anyways!!!, then reboot with .. prbably boot.img floppy in drive, and you should be able to figure it out, good luck!.
Beware this is 500+ megs, and I read somewhere it only works if your partition is FAT16, sorry..., ask around.
ps, Anyone know if a 3com Office Connect 3Csoho100-TX is supported under RH 5.2 or 6.0. I installed 5.2 on here and i cant get any of its drivers to find my card. like NE2000 compatable and such, etc etc, so please anyone know if i can use this card, i have a cable modem so id really prefer to get it working.
Sorry for long post

If you've got a burner, I can hook you up with a CD-Image of RHL 6.0. As you probably already know, it's perfectly legal to do so.
Just e-mail me if you're interested.

What I did with the ISO image was simply double click on it in Windows and it launched my HP burner. Less than 20 minutes later, my CD was done.
If you got the ISO then you have everything. It is the same image all the companies use to mmake the CDs they sell.

Most CD burner software knows what to do with an ISO image. If it is not associated, you may have to load up your CD burning software and look for something like "Create Disc From Image file". The image files I pointed to should create nice bootable install CDs and make things easy as pie.
The 9.8k download may have something to do with the fact that an ISO image is fairly compressable. Every modem since 2400 has had some kind of compression, but you hardly ever get data that can be shrunk much. At least, that is my theory. :P

I hit 11k thru the first 2 MB's then it went back down to normal. Anyways I was 260mb's into the download and left the comp on to go to a comp show. Found a copy of Redhat 6.0 for 5 bucks w/ boot disk..and it wasnt a CD-r /forum/smile.gif...professionally labeled and everything. Anyways I went right home and deleted half that image file right off my comp...Well Im happy /forum/smile.gif
