Just a quick question (which I'm sure I already know the answer) Q. Is it at all possiable to change the IRQ settings in a PnP card? Anybody have any hints to share?

Yes you can. In you motherboard BIOS there should be an option to assign specific IRQs to each of the cards on your computer.

Just be carefull and make sure what you are doing or you can really make Win9x go nutz by tring to reconfigure itself.

It depends on both the OS and the exact PnP card that you want to change.

Beware of attempting to change PnP settings, the last time I tried to override the automatic stteings, I ended up creating numerous other problems on both HW and SW.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the postings. My Bios will only switch between Legacy & PnP. I can't assign IRQ's to the slots. I have used the manual config in other win95/98 systems device manager but all my cards will not let me over-ride the PnP settings (Sucks). So the end result is I free up some IRQ's and my PnP cards will not take ahold of them. I have tried reseating them and everything. PnP sucks!!! I want legacy back! Someone should make Legacy PCI cards and they make a **** pot full of money!!!!! Thanks!

Do you have any config software for the cards?

If so, you might try using it to change the settings, some cards can only be set through their own software.

Good luck!
