AMDClocker 06-02-2000, 02:11 PM well imho i dont think many ppl will disclose that "the whole napster deal"has ppl scared to even admit they have mp3s much less how many . just my 2 cents Warthog 06-02-2000, 02:32 PM Be must have a MONGO hard drive or that wouldn't work. That's why I did the figures myself http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. Say each cd has 15(!) songs each. Lets also say that when each song is in mp3 format, they are 4mb each. 51 cds x 15 songs ea. = 765 total songs 765 songs x 4mb. ea. = 3060mb (3 gigs). Even if the size is increased to 6mb. each, it still is under 5gb. For the fun of it, lets say that he really did have 26gb of mp3s with each mp3 weighing at 4mb each. 26000mb (26gb) / 4mb. ea. = 5600 songs (5600 songs * 4mb = 26gb) hehehe http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Warthog codybear 06-02-2000, 02:54 PM I have a little over 6.5gigs and still growing and many of them are off cd's that I have converted myself so that I can make my own custom ones RCN_Moose 06-02-2000, 02:55 PM Well I don't use napster so, I've got just over 8gigs of music on my one hard drive (8.09 to be precise) which equals 2865 songs. Thats around 225 CD's http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I dont have them in MP3 format though, I use Realjukebox (along with Zone Alarm so it can't access the internet). Takes up less space. Oh ya, the vast majority are mine. I jujst use it as a jukebox through my stereo. (I hate changing CD's http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif) Moose http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by RCN_Moose (edited 06-02-2000).] qball 06-02-2000, 03:36 PM You go warthog! Saved me the trouble of those calculations. Anyway, if I have 3 mp3 files on my own box, than that is three more than I knew of... I'm old school, keep playing those CD things. Plus I hate to admit I maintain a turntable so I can listen to all of the great music I have on vinyl. Though I know of someone who copied all of their LPs (almost a trivia question there (LP not who did this)) to disk and burned CDs from them. neo_otyugh 06-02-2000, 03:40 PM ok i can fit at least 125 songs per cd...and as many as 235 per cd...figure an average of maybe 175 per cd...and i have 18 cds of mp3s so...18x175=3150...plus all the ones i have on hard drive...i constantly get more, but napster is not good for it i use cutemx or scour exchange, they are faster and have as much or more stuff to get... Warthog 06-02-2000, 04:15 PM I see....I thought you guys meant an actual music cd not just putting mp3s on a cd. Ok. Big misunderstanding. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Warthog ablang 06-03-2000, 12:56 AM About how many GBs of mp3s have you collected by now? I have a friend that has like 51 CDs mostly full of mp3s. That's probably about 26 gigabytes! SysOpt.com
