im sick of the game half life, its been around longer than the dumb name carbon dating that it came from, its graphics are old and cheesy, and i remember having this same discussion about duke nukem 3d when quake2 came out, go and upgrade your computer if you cant play a better game. tfc was a terrible remake of a great mod for quake1, sorry if i pissed you off, but im not in the business of kissing <deleted>......just lemme know what you think....

TFC is my favorite game. I guess it was the main one I played when I got broadband. Now that I have been relegated back to dialup I don't play. A bunch of my friends at work have a clan which made it really fun. (SC^2 btw and I was [SC^2]Gambit) It was a low res game for sure, but it is one of the funnest as well because it isn't just a run-around and kill ppl game (while it can be that too...).

It is old and is one of the Greats along with Quake and Doom. I can't wait to see Max Pain and others to see how they have expanded. I haven't gotten a chance yet to play any of the recent titles.

i know it must suck really bad since it ONLY has 13112 servers showing up in kali...and to think that superior games like q3arena are undercounted at 3474 right now...simply stunning.

I never really liked Halflife for some reason..

Normally because the computers I have tried it on doesn't like the game. Besides the fact after spending a lot of time playing Quake III Arena I really haven't wanted to play anything else since!

Half Life has to be one of my Fav games of all time. It spawned a whole lot awesome add ons and mods, such as counterstrike (biggest multiplier game out there), day of defeat, firearms, opposing forces, opera etc etc. The graphics may not be up to scratch for now days, but the gameplay is top notch!

I feel really sorry for "crass", as it's obvious that he/she is unable to really appreciate how revolutionary HalfLife was in terms of single player dominance. The storyline, the scripted events, the NPC interaction - all unheard of before Valve came along. And it's competition? Q3? Puh-leese. That's a no-brainer, just frag your opposition (unless you're playing team games). Quake hasn't evolved at all. All you have to do is check out the HalfLife mods available - like Darkstar (Alien-like), They Hunger (zombies). These are some of the best single-player addons available.

Another game you have to look at is Deus Ex. This game is a couple of years old, and it's deeper than an ocean! The plethora of things available, the branching storyline, the weapon mods, the augmentations, the VOICE acting. It's no wonder it's still garnering Game of Year honours.

Instead of looking at the eye candy, let's consider how appropriate the visuals are with regard to what the game content is supposed to be. That's why HL, Q3 and Deus Ex all work so well.

Crass, just wondering but what game do you play? prolly max o u pain huh? well ive been playing half-life/cs/tfc for about 1 1/2 now and i havent been able to stop playing it... im 13 and all my friends play it. they cant stop playing it either... i have no friggen idea where that hl sux... and btw ive played Q3 it sux compared to Hl.. i think i played it for hmm about 1 day and i got sick of it. i hope u read this cuz u really dont know **** about Hl.. so dont go talking **** about it when u play ur lil Q3 game ok. peace!

Half-Life is an awesome game... used to play it on my old Orchid Righteous 3D (4meg) at the end of 1998, which was superb eye-candy at the time and pretty awesome game-play... when I got my TnT (ASUS V3400TV) a few months later it took on a whole new dimension! Multi-player Half-Life on broadband access at University almost ruined my degree! And it wasn't just the 24hr HL server under my desk keeping me awake http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Due to work, I've not had enough time for gaming for the first half of this year... just got back into it, bought a 3D Prophet II (GF2) Ultra and then hit the games again... Quake, UT, the works... I am now back to Half-Life and happier than ever! Looking forward to trying a few of the mods that have come out...

One of those true classics although when hosting games on your home-LAN, can I recommend upping the speed from 270 to 330 - makes it a BIT more challenging and easier to dodge those cross-bows, etc http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I think the only game that will pry me away from HL properly is the next version of the game that I ditched for it: Duke Nukem... Duke Nukem "3D" was far from eye-candy, but it had AWESOME playability and a great sense of humour... DN Forever should really rock, as long as they don't over-complicate it...
