wont play

i have a compaq sc1406 and a philips 800 series cd burner....both of them will not play 2 of my games (madden 2002 and max payne).. i was able to load them but when i click on the icon it starts then it goes back to my desktop....i tried to use the patch to max payne but still will not work.

What are your system Specs, they may require a 3D Accelerator to run them, I know Max Payne does..

Do you have Direct X 8 installed? I'm not sure,but you might need it.

Remedy page explicitly tells that some cdrw drives have problems reading the cd due to copy protection. I actually have the same problem, it goes back to desktop upon launching, no error nothing. And I too have a philips burner.
Have you tried the patch that is available?

Well... I got it running with applying the exe that doesn't require the cd to be inserted. I hate my philips drive already http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
