the sims- livin' large wont install

i have an original copy of the sims installed, it works fine. i went to install an original copy of the sims livin large, i click the install button. then it says it is preparing the install shield. when that reaches 100% the program exits and asks if i would like to uninstall the sims living large. but it hasnt yet been installed if i click yes it uninstalls the sims (first one)

any ideas? hp pavillion, 64mb ram, windows me

i dunno, i had the sims installed and when i installed "living large" it never asked nor did it remove the original sims. it just basically patches it or upgrades it you can say.
i would try uninstalling both, shut down anything running in the backround(norton, etc.) and install the sims, then living large. good luck.

ps. check with the sims site to see if ME has compatiblity issues also. ME can be a real outright b**ch sometimes with software.

ive already tried a few times uninstalling the sims and reinstalling with everything off. it doesnt seem to work. also the sims seems like it will let me install it with uk-english, but i want it normal. could it be a problem with the cd and the american setup program?

Hey Jacob, when I installed Livin Large, I was having problems with it not giving me all the add-ons. GO to thesims.com or is it just sims.com? Anyways, the official site, and sign up and go into the chat room. They were real friendly. And the mods/help people will even pull you into a private room to help you with your problem. They had me do something to my registry to correct my problem

If none of it works... I reccomneding you to try not multi-tasking... IF you do... like what I did... I had the same excat problem... so i stopped multi-tasking... like surfing the net and etc... at the end.. you should watch the movie of the "up-coming game" Simsville? well... if you see it... then the installation is succesful

the problem isnt with the sims not adding new stuff after the an install and its the only program running while im trying to install it. heres the situation again:

i have sims installed and it works fine. i put the living large cd in the drive, i click install. everything looks fine, it says preparing the install shield wich will do the rest of the install. when the install shield is done, insteadof installing the sims, it closes, and a popup appears saying "would you like to uninstall the sims living large" with yes or no. if i says yes, it uninstalls the sims, if i say no it exits.
