Ever since i downloaded icq 2000 its been eating my resources like candy!I narrowed it down to the icq program. After about 1/2 hour on icq my resources dropp from 79% to as low as 19% any ideas to help besides rebooting?

the only way to really figure out whats going on is to reboot. after you reboot if it still is happening, uninstall, reboot and install again. if that doesn work then ICQ sucks.

To see what is running on your computer and to see the resources each is using, dowload and use WinTop.

You may want to go back to 99b. I learnt my lesson, not to upgrade til the newest ICQ version has been around for about a year.
Good luck!

I agree, get rid of ICQ 2000. I could never get it to connect on a regular basis. I went back to 99b and I am very happy I did.

hate to rain on your parade here, but i have icq 2000 on my comp and when i run WinTop it shows it as only using ~0.05 to 0.1% of my cpu so ICQ might not be your problem after all.

when the ICQ panel is up mine runs at 1.4%. When minimized it's about 0.4%. And I've seen it go up to 30% depending on what it's doing at the time.
I am using 99b
It's that **** "Idle" program hogging all my resources, it uses about 97% of em most of the time. I think I'll find that one and delete it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
