programs for making games

Hi,
Does anyone know of a program that will let me create a new game, or even one that will help me create new maps for counter-strike, preferably free.

i remember seeing a game designer software program in the best buy or compuse ads but dotn remember what it is i will look and get back to you.

its not cheap though like $45 it was onsale when i sae it for like $20. Dont know anything about it cept the name, game programming.

I think Worldcraft is the program used for CS/SWAT/HL maps. You can download it for free from the Sierra site.

You might want to investigate Dark Basic (http://www.darkbasic.com) sounds like what you might be looking for.

The graphics and gameplay in those "make yourslef a game" programs is usually pretty bad. You might look into worldcraft like spidey said! It's still really hard, but it already has the base set up for you. So you can spend more time building your world, instead of fixing bugs.
