I recently went back and started playing FreeSpace 2 again. I know remember why I got sick of playing it, the throttle on my Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro won't work with the game. It's really annoying and I have the latest patch. Any one else have this prob?

I don't believe the throttle works with FS2. The problem is that most players set their speed to auto-match (either the bad guy or your escort), which would be incompatible with a set throttle. The second issue would be with the turbo. We've used an MS Sidewinder 3D Pro and now use the Saitek Cyborg Gold (I'm a lefty).

Has anyone else found a way to use the throttle with FS2?

sorry I didn't get back sooner, be long days farming, I can't seem to find where in fs-2 where it let me set up my throttle. sorry. I'm using a micro force feedback and a cheapo radio shack flite stick for the kids and have throttle working on both of them in freespace 2. sorry not much help

At least that means there's hope. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Hey JnMHayes, Starlance has a match speed button and a working throttle, the match speed button can simply be toggled on/off and the throttle works again, otherwise the throttle has no effect so FS2 can defeinitely have a working throttle, maybe if I tell It I have force feedback it'll work, won't hurt it....

I got it working!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

All you have to do is press F2 in the game, go to control config, you need the find the "relative throttle" on the list. If you select it, fiddle with the throttle on the joystick then press...it was enter or space it'll assign it the joysticks R-axis, you may need to invert it though, on my Precision Pro it was upside down.
