Any Serious Sam gamers around here? I must say, this game is really good. Lotsa shootin' and lotsa killing. Not to mention lotsa retries. :p
Really hilarious sometimes when you die because you're overrun by beheaded kamikazes or Siran werebulls. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

cough trying to get post count up cough
Anywayz i played the game. It was alright kind of funny. but got old realy fast. I prefer the puzzles and killings like half life brought about. Anyone try the new blue shift? i played it and beat it on the hardest in about 7 hours. It was alright more puzzles than killing and no new weapons. But it was fun to see different parts of the compound once again and to see good old Gordan Freeman and Lt. Shepard http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, I've been living in a hole(figuratively) and hadn't played any FPS until someone gave me Serious Sam. It's pretty cool, I must say I kind of suck still but I'm getting there. Of course then I had to download UT and Quake3 demos...now I'm gonna have to buy them. lol
Mostly I play RTS or Civilization type games.
So, I guess Serious Sam is responsible for a convert to FPS

hey i play serious sam since i added a geforce and it was only $9.99 at compusa.
very funny game with really hilarious creatures and sounds. the graphics engine is really good and i love the flare when you look around in the sunlight.
all around the game puts you in the right mood and i must admit that i got scared sometimes.
but it's really stressy to see the flood of monsters coming at you and you don't know what to shoot first.
on the other side you walk and walk searching for secrets and nothing happens.
have you discovered any real good hidden secrets yet?
let us know.
"yeaahhh, that's some serious firepower, you headless freaks"

Some of the secrets are really cool if you find them early in the game. For example, at the first stage, the temple, you can already find a rocket launcher. And at Metropolis, you can get the Cannon already. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Other secrets can be found at gamefaqs.com. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Lucky buggers, I was all set to get Serious Sam as soon as it came out thx to the demo and then doubly as I heard it'd only be $19.99. So I figured it'd be about $45-$50 here in Aus, it's 89.95 and in some places it's even 99.95 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif it's cheaper for me to pay and have it shipped directly from US than to purchase here at any online store or local software store.....!!

sorry hellmund,
why is that so expensive for you blokes?
If they still have it at compusa for 9.99$
I could pick one up and send it to you by mail if you figure out how to wire me the bucks.
:-( have no burner.

That's just it, I have no idea why? It's quite infuriating, it's just at a few stores either, I got free membership through a PC mag at www.awesomesoftware.com.au (http://www.awesomesoftware.com.au) and that's the cheapest I've found it anywhere and that's only because I'm a member.....
Thx for the offer Patrick, I don't really have a way to wire you the money, + with the shipping price to send the money to you(I haven't got a cred card yet, just turned 18 a couple of months ago) and then to ship the game back it'll end up only slightly cheaper...kinda sad really, it's STILL cheaper!

Hmm.. seems like few people around here are Serious Sam gamers... seriously, I don't know over there, but what's the current "in" game there? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I purchased it along with a friend, then we played coop through it.
Playing it alone, it isn't nearly as fun. It doesn't seem to have much replay value for me since the challenges are mostly "how many of <insert creature type here> can you kill at once" and it doesn't seem to have much randomness programmed into it.
However, I'm looking forward to playing it multiplayer again. Somehow it's more fun competing for points with somebody to cover your back than try to do it alone.

Yeah, for Serious Sam, multiplayer is definitely more fun than single player mode. Watching your friend die as he is overrun by the throngs of monsters can be quite sadistically humourous sometimes. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif And if the both of you die exactly at the same time, that's even more funny. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I couldnt find it at any stores around me, but 9.99? It's my next game! I've never played it but heard good things, really good things, and for that price, i'll get it this week and tell you guys how like it. And yes, UT is great, i've recently gotten re-addicted to it.

Yeh that's one great thing about UT, it's got excellent replay value, I'm still improving, I'm almost finished the tournament on masterful, those dam androids on the Challenge part are really fast though! I'm up to phobos. Just two levels more and I'm upto 'Godlike'.

Played the demo, loved it.
Bought the game, played it, loved it.
Wasn't looking for anything more than a point 'n' twitch game from this, and I found what I was looking for http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Loved the sheer scale of the maps, and the fact that kamikazes with no heads can scream. (??)
Fun, fun. True enough, though, that the others mentioned (HL, UT, Quake) have more replayability - esp. UT, for me - due to the brain-strains and strategifying. Don't forget the importance of the mod-making folx for those games http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif - I look forward to seeing what happens when (if) all the Serious Sam mods I've read about come to fruition.

I think there's one mod released for Serious Sam. Forgot it's name. Anyone tried that?
