System specs:
Epox 8k7a
T-bird 1G @ 1.4G very stable and default voltage
Visiontek GeForce3 64mb DDR using Detonator 12.60 and DX8
Maxtor 30 and 40 Gig 7200 ATA100 HDs
Creative X-Gamer 5.1 drivers are up to date.
Windows 98SE

What happens is within a minute after clicking the single player mode, the game locks up and has a buzzing sound coming from the audio.
Already tried reinstalling DX8.

This is starting to drive me nuts.

Also there is an option to run the game in a safemode state. Not with 98SE being in safemode. But even then the game locks up. It usually does this when the first movie scene is playing.
Used everything I could think of.
Any thoughts, glitter in your eye, or hint of hope is very greatly appreciated. Since, before the lockup, the graphics look pretty intense.

Even tried updating the game to 1.1, Interplay's one and only update.

Also emailed them. Waiting to see what they come up with.

Try using an older ver of the Detonators. Other than that try re-installing giants, cleaning the CD and running scandisk....those are the only things off the top of my head

The cd had never been out of the box, I just opened it. So it was clean. Already did a scandisk and defrag. For some reason I do these out of habit before installing a game, I don't remember why.

And I did figure out what the problem was. For some reason, the game did not like my cpu @ 1.4G. The game runs flawlessly with my cpu @ 1.33G.

Its the only game I have that won't run @ 1.4G. I think I'm gonna cry, I now have to keep my cpu @ 1.33G just to play this one game. Everything else works just fine @ 1.4.

Thanks for trying though Hellmund.
Those were good ideas to keep in mind though.

Yeh I Scandisk and Defrag as well, I figure I got it from how I used to do it on the older computers, Defrag could be the difference between a smooth enjoyable game and a jumpy game with heavy disk access.... dam I'm already referring to the good 'ol days.... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
