Does anybody know what the first NES game released was? I've done some research but haven't come up with a conclusive answer. I am searching for the first game made that is useable on a standard Nintendo Entertainment System..... or whatever. I've traced it back to what I think are the first two released, but I'm not sure. I read that at first the Nintendo was sold in a package with all this crazy **** like that little robot (ROB) and came with two games: Duck Hunt and Gyromite. I haven't been able to confirm that either was first though. If you know anything about original NES stuff, the games, the FAMICOM or anything, share the news. Thanks.

It was probably Donkey Kong. It was one of Nintendo's arcade games before the Famicom/NES even came out. But it was Super Mario Bros. that made the NES a succes.

For the US it was mario, cuz it came with all the first systems
Actually there were three systems made
1) came with Super Mario Bros and a controller
2) Came with Super mario/Duck hunt and a controller and a lightgun
3) Came with Supermario/Duck hunt/Track & Field, controller, lightgun, and powerpad.
(I remember this from when I was 6 or 7 or something). Nintendo probably released the NES with several games at launch though, but these were the first to come with it.

Im sure they were just Famicom ports tho. Now what was the first Famicom game is probably a totally different answer. I would guess donkeykong also, because it was a port, since it had existed on atari before it, and they didnt really do much new in the NES version. I wonder if the original Mario Bros ever came out on famicom? If it did, that might be it.

Man this brings back memorys. Anyone remember the powerglove and the G-Force or whatever it was called?

You forgot a system Aura...

4)Came with ultimate game player's guide & no games

I was "fortunate" enough to get this version as a Christmas gift back in '87. But I did score one separate game: Legend o' Zelda. 7th grade, talk about not having a care in the world.

I remember my first NES system came with a couple of games, the lightgun, and the robot with the spinning disks for controlling the A/B buttons of the second controller. The robot was a really wierd device that was driven by screen ques, never did get used to using it during game play.

Did NES games work on Famicom or Famicom games work for NES? Was it basically a different looking version of the same thing? Or was it very closely related but not the same? I never had one because I was born in 85, luckily just in time to enjoy the NES craze.

I know Donkey Kong and I believe Donkey Kong 2 or something came out on arcade before Nintendo was released, but then again that doesn't mean they had it ready for NES on time.

As for Mario being out on Famicom, I'm not really sure because I know virtually nothing about Famicom. It may have been out but under a different name, because I believe Mario's original name was Jumpman. He was renamed because he looked like this guy named Mario that one of the head guys knew.

Hey Rob, do you remember what games came with your system that had the robot and everything?

I bought that same #2 package (Mario bros/Duckhunt) when it first came out. Was fun for a few months, till I discovered PC gaming http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

But here in the USA, Mario Bros. was definatly the first NES cartridge available.

Soon after that I got the original 2 player Tetris, which was bought out and replaced by NES's version, which sucked mossy rocks in comparison. A used game store gave me almost $100 for that original version of that cartridge http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Okay as far as my knowlegde reaches the first NES was the one that came with the ROB robot. As for the first game...ya really got me.

But when it comes to compatablitly between a famicon and and nes, Well the base on famicom games (the part that makes the connection to the system) are a tad bit smaller then the NES.

Hope that helps

hehe Duck Hunt Revenge

Some of my all time favorite games were the Contra series. My dad and I would play both 1 & 2 every night for years.

When SNES came out I got Contra 3 for $15 used at Electronics Boutique. We played that for a long time too, until we could beat it in 30min on the hardest setting. Let me tell you, that was A LOT of aliens coming out! Firepower! woohoo! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

dang madfish, you could make a lot of money off some of that stuff.

Some SNES games that are "rare" (like Megaman series for example) go for $60-100 each. YOU have NES games and OLDER!

Another fun thing was to play the hunting game integrated in the SEGA Master using 2 Guns. Lots of wasted ammunitions lol.

I never had an NES but my cousin in Las Vegas got one for Mother day in 87 or 88 ( I don't quite remember). But I do remember getting up in the mornings in the living room of his house and we would play for hours.

We always made fun of our sisters playing Mario bros. They would never use turbo, they would always walk slowly, and of course they had the habit of alway jolting the controller to the right when they had to jump to get to the other side.

I think my cousin still has like 50 NES games and NES itself in his closet somewhere. A while back we took it out and tried to play it but somethings wrong with the power cord and we got tired of blowing into those **** cartridges like 1000 times to make them work.

Those were tha days.

anyway I have no idea about the 1st game

sorry

Lol I dont remember Rob the Robot at all..
I got package #3..I think it was $150
I now have like 4 super mario bros game carts, and I dont know how I got them.

Anyone remember the D-Force or G-Force or whatever it was called?
It was a little box with 4 or 8 infrared "trigger points". U would have to punch in the air near the points to register it as a A or a B..Worked great with punch out (Barely), little else.

LOL I remember those codes! MY friend and I used to play Ikari warriors. There was one part in the level, though, towards the end where the game wouldn't go any further. It was all screwed up or something.

What was the name of that movie with Fred Savage that was all about Nintendo? It was how they unveiled Super Mario 3. Anyway I think the first game was Super Mario Brothers.

I posted this link in the Community section, but it brings back memories... http://w1.871.telia.com/~u87119813/mario.swf
