This will be in 2 parts (two diferent attempts)
System info: P2 450, 196mb ram, TNT2, SB Live, 2 NIC's.
1. A buddy just got cable internet access and he is having problems with Q3. Whenever we get into a game, it just locks up. We've uninstalled and re-installed Q3 a couple times, same thing. We were able to play for about 25 minutes once. We can play against the computer fine. But when playing online the **** just keeps locking up, we have to hard boot to get back up.
2. Well, I was over at his house last night and we decided to do a clean install of windoze. Format, installed, windont, and all the latest drivers for his hardware. Installed Q3 and the latest patches, jump
on line join a game and it locks up.
There are no irq conflicts, I even disabled both serial ports. Now this is the wierd part, the nic card, we couldn't find the driver disk for it. But, it works using "intel based NIC card" which is what windoze asigned to it. By working I mean that we setup the cable modem and get on the net just fine. He is supposed to d/l the correct drivers for the NIC today and give that a
try. Other then that, I am at a loss.
He even set the rate to 7000, and all the video settings down in Q3. He did play for about five minutes he said after I left.
I believe it has something to do with the cable modem or NIC.
Please help
