Hi. I am having trouble with my kids Sega Dreamcast. The controllers don't work. When I turn on the machine it goes straight to the set/time date page but the machine does not respond to the controllers. I read on the SEGA site that the battery may be dead, but can't I just change it. It is a 3volt disc battery which is soldered in. I am not afraid of soldering but am not sure how to attach the batteries to the metal strips which get soldered to the board. I hate to send in the machine for a two dollar battery. Also, does anyone know if that would cause the controllers not ot work or is that something different? We have a friend with exactly same problem. Any ideas would be great!!

Thanks again for your help---without the garbage and porn!!!!! I love this site!!! Mary Jane

Well i am guessing a battery problem since all of your controllers don't work..correct?

If it were just one, maybe it could be a wiring problem in the controller cable...
Wait for a second opinion though http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Sorry about the double post. Ugh!! Hit submit twice and there were no takebacks. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif So, anyideas on how to solder the battery to the metal pieces which hold it and are soldered on to the board? They almost look like they are punched.

The problem is something with the main unit and not the individual controllers. I have no trouble taking things apart but I rarely know what is wrong once I am inside. I figure its trash anyway--might as well give it a shot.
