Well, I up and dun it!!!After weeks of contemplation and biting fingernails, I finally got up the courage to FLASH the BIOS.
And I'm still HERE!!! Man, after about two or three" BAD COMMANDS" and "FILES NOT FOUND"and
numerous tranquilizers ,I managed to thru the whole process. Then the printer and scanner wouldn't work! Had to figure out how to change the BIOS settings...more tranquililzers!! But success at last!!
The only item showwing up in "Device Mgr." is the SCSI Iomega Parallel port interface..device is not present or driver not installed.
Since my Zip drive is USB and working properly do I need to worry about this. Everything else seems OK !

Way to go Pickel http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I'm sure you ment to say "The only error showing up in ......"
You can deleate that "device" that is not there. The Iomega software puts those in by default. I got a Zip ATAPI, and a Jazz SCSI, and deleate the USB, and Parallel devices everytime I upgrade the Iomega Tools.
See you around Pickel!

Hey Ya'll: Thanks!!! I'm on the high note for NOW. Tommorow hasn't gotten here yet!!!
Jad: that K-6-3 isn't as cheap as I thought it was!! K-6-2 w/ 3 yr warranty, heat sink and fan $40.00 plus $10.00 shpping
K-6-3 Kit $156.00 plus $9.00 shipping w/ Fan and heatsink only 1 yr warranty.
$50.00 vs $165.00 Is it worth it. Since I won't be able to O'clock due to Bus speed and
coclk multiplier, which would be the better investment. I like the 3 yr warranty thing!!
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hehehe! I do it for the tingling-edge of the seat nervousness you get in the first 20 seconds following that dreaded 'reset' while waiting for it to hopefully boot again!
Kinda like living dangerously isn't it? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Pickel I would have to say get the K6 2. I thought 450s were around $100.

Good job pickel... what you described is exactly how I am now. I dread the thought of having to do that. I hope the day will never come but I know it will... lol

It is a great feeling aint it. Way to go.
I fretted about doing my 1st flash but grew tired of my computer coming on in the year 2096 and having to reset the time everyday.
After some sweating and shaking things finally went right and I ushered my old Tyan into the year 2000.

the second flash i did on a motherboard went way wrong, it never booted again. its an old chaintech. i dont know why i keep it around, maybe as a reminder of past failure. i havent flashed since the pain is too great.
