Leave CD-Rom in when installing CD-RW

Is it better to leave old CD-rom in when I install a CD-RW? What is the best set-up?

Dont matter if you leave CDROM in, best setup would probably be HD on Primary Master, CDROM on Primary Slave, and CD/RW on Secondary Master. Although I run HD Primary Master, CDRW Secondary Master, CDROM Secondary Slave because its faster and I hate having it on the same bus. Putting 2 drives on the same bus decreases how fast one can copy to the other.
