One can barely run a CLIENT on a dial-up connection, don't even try to run a server.

I really don't see how people can play Cs on a 56k it just blows my mind.

do you all use your mouse to shoot? I am kinda new to CS and I play it everyday for about 2 hours sometimes more, could someone give a pointer on how to become better?

I used to have DSL and got pretty good at CS...and then I left California and came back to Ohio. Where I now live, I cannot get broadband (lack of availability) and cannot afford Satellite...

The max connection speed I can get is 24k (old phone lines) with my 56k modem....and I usually play with a 300ms avg ping....and all I can say is it is playable and I frequently have a 2 to 1 kill ratio...

I am glad I got my skill PRIOR to losing my broadband...or else I would agree as to how can people play CS with a 56k or less line...

I just got back from college a little before christmas, where I played CS almost every day, spoiled by low 2 digit pings, back to a 56k.
I havent played counterstrike since..

I didn't notice it til I read this thread.

I think one of you 'broadbanders' should start a CS server sometimes for us Sysopters.

heheh i am working on developing a cluster of CS servers at my job right now. we have the first one up and plan on adding several more over the next few months...hopefully we can make killerzoo (net and com) a good cluster.

I've been playing CS on a 56k line since Beta 4, and have done pretty good for the most part. The lpb's do give me fits at times though. Seems like us 56kers are becoming the exception not the rule like it used to be. I can't get dsl or cable, and from what I've seen of satellite, it doesn't seem to be very good for gaming due to higher ping times than my 56k.
