I upgraded to Win ME and needed new mouse drivers for another game, to get the mouse to even work in it. Put in the latest from Logitech, supports ME.

Now when playing, no scroll on the mouse. I am so used to the wheel for weapons switch, I feel like my hands cut off.

Tried to uninstall, reinstall, put my optical USB mouse on an adapter at the PS2 port; no luck. I configured the wheel for autoscroll in the config. software. It scrolls fine here for instance!

Did this ever happen to you?

Thanks

I feel your pain.......and if I remember correctly, I know your remedy.

Look around through the tabs for your mouse preferences and on one of them there should be a box to check that says something along the lines of activating the scroll for Microsoft Word and similar programs.

I wish I could remember the exact location, but if you just go through carefully and inspect all the options, you should find it.

Good Luck,
Travis

No it didnt happen to me. I have ME and a Logitech m/man +. I got the latest driver for ME and found the scroll wheel still fine in my games.
I have had other minor hiccups with ME but not that one. Sorry no help but thought I would mention it so u dont think its just a ME - Logitech problem.
Have u tried to uninstall the mouse software/driver and put the previous one back on just to check? I didnt have to select anything in particular for either driver for the wheel to work in the games.

Logitech does their mouse wheel calls diferently from MS and others.
To enable the wheel on your Logi mouse to work the same way a MS does, you need to add/edit these lines in your registry (copy this, paste it into notepad, and save it as mwheelon.reg, then double click on the saved file to apply it)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Logitech\MouseWare\Cur rentVersion\Technical]
"MouseHookDllEnable"="0"
"WheelMsgToVmouse"="1"

Also make another reg file with those switches changed to 1 and 0, so you can undo this.
This trick works, but it does have a catch...your Logi mouse will still be using it's Logi hooks and calls, AND the MS ones. What this results in is apps that recognise both types of calls will "double scroll" (instead of scrolling 1 or 3 lines at a time in desktop apps, it will scroll 2 or 6 times)

Thanks for the good info.

Someone steered me to the Logitec site, where they have a small patch for Win98 to help gamers with a scroll problem; it's just below the latest win98 mouse drivers.

It worked fine in ME, and I'm switchin' and fraggin'. Did nothing for my reflexes or aim though.

Happy New Year you guys!

Hmmmmmmmmmm, well, I`m usign the original 98 drivers that came with my Corless mouse from Logitech.

For some reason theyr released new drivers for ME, but my 98 drivers work fine in ME!!!!

Dunno why, but I always had problems with newer drivers. On the Logitech site, there is a download that autimatically fixes the problem of the wheel not working in games. Can`t think of the link right now, but it is there somewhere!
