The employee in Babbages told me it was a great game...Just want some feedback..Thanx MiKe Barney 12-24-2000, 04:39 PM One of the best games ever.If you're talking about the first one,it looks like **** if you don't have a 3Dfx card.It looks pretty good with the 3Dfx patch,640x480 glide.320x200 with/O 3Dfx.But that shouldn't spoil your fun.I've never played Carmageddon 2,I should and I know someone who has it.I do have Carmageddon TDR2000.It's pretty cool and looks great, but you need a very good computer to run it properly.Like Carmageddon 1 & 2 were when they came out. You never get bored with games like Carmageddon. You just keep playing them.Even years later. Ronald MiKe85 12-24-2000, 06:49 PM ahhh Carmaggeddon is something like the racing game of doom, eh? hehe should be entertaining...Thanx for feed back M i K e Warthog 12-24-2000, 10:04 PM I tried the second one I think a few years ago. Didn't like it because there was a time limit. Warthog rock8785 12-25-2000, 11:18 PM It is ok, but it seems all the cars arent that fast. OuTpaTienT 12-26-2000, 10:48 AM There's a patch to get rid of the time limit. The cars are extremely fast. If you haven't seen it already, then go rent a movie called Death Race 2000. That's what the game is based on. There's a few big stars in the movie (before they were big stars); I know Sly Stalone stars as "Machinegun Joe" and I think it's David Carradine as a character called "Frankenstien". (He drives a modified Corvette that the Eagle1 is modelled after. btw, the Eagle is your main car in Carmageddon.) Carmageddon 1 was very fun and very addicting. In fact, that game was the sole reason I finally decided to upgrade my 486 to a K6. (Although I played most the way through it on a 486/66 with no 3dfx card. That just HOW addicting it was.) C1 w/Splat-Pack was just more of the same. Still great fun. C2 brought D3D graphics so those of us without a 3dfx card could enjoy the better quality graphics. This is also the first time the game used "true" 3D objects. C1 used 2d sprites to simulate 3d, much like Doom or Duke Nukem. C2000TDR is really just more of C2. Doesn't appear very different. ---------------- fun stuff ---------------- I just found a short review of the movie here: http://www.badmovies.org/movies/deathrace/ Here's a pic of the Frankenstein car: http://www.badmovies.org/movies/deathrace/deathrace3.jpg and here's Sly as Machinegun Joe: http://www.badmovies.org/movies/deathrace/deathrace6.jpg [This message has been edited by OuTpaTienT (edited 12-26-2000).] Barney 12-26-2000, 08:27 PM Hey Outpatient, thanks for the info and links!I've gotta see that movie (so should every other Carmageddon fan http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif ).You must have REALLY loved carmageddon!I've seen how it ran on my little brother's 486 66 and how it looked to run it properly... rock8785,about that that the cars don't seem so fast, maybe you just need a faster computer! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Those 3D zombies in C2 were quite impressing for that time.I remember that from seeing some of it on tv. Oh,one other thing about Carmageddon, don't give up too fast.It takes some time to master the controls and car.In the begin it seems like you can't make a turn with it.It also seems like you don't have enough time. The easiest way to finish a race is by 'finishing' all cars, because that way you'll get time (and by killing those screamin' b@$tard$).I only rwemember one cheat type 'givemelard' during the race. You'll get about 5000~7000 credits on average. Ronald OuTpaTienT 12-27-2000, 06:44 PM I first saw the movie LONG before I even knew what a computer was. But I was the perfect age to see a "B" flick like that 10-12 years old. I thought that movie was the coolest thing....EVER. And then, all these years later, along come Carmageddon. It was just too cool. I HAD to play that game. I probably would've even played it on an Atari 2600 . . . well ok, maybe not, but on a CollecoVision you bet! SysOpt.com
