Is "The Sims" good?

It looks like an interesting game, but is anyone here playing it? Supposedly, this is the game of the year.

I thought it was great. First of all, there isn't any other game like it (to my knowledge). They get credit for that. Second, it's addictive. I consider that a good quality for a game. And best of all, it makes you think about your own life. I found myself actually taking out the stupid trash and washing the dishes after I played! YIKES! Well i don't personally have a copy of it at home...
but i remember my computer teacher letting us play it in class, it was a really neat game...(I know what teacher let's students play video games anyway? lmao)
