Before I download this software, I'd like to know a little more about it, from those who actually use the prog, if any of you use it please feel free to say anything about it: tips, comments, suggestions, ANYTHING!
I'm not an avid instant messenger, but I just might change an old grudge I have!
Thanks

Me thinks ICQ is the best thing that ever happened to the internet.
It is soo easy to use, and it works flawlessly, that I MUST have it, and I have gotten all my friends to use it too. I got over 75 people on my list. on average, about 15 are online http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I really think you should get it, because there are no bugs, at least that I have found.........

uh....Icq. a lot more functions than AIM but AIM is catching up..also icq is sometimes open to getting hacked more often. I used to use both but dropped icq cause I knew more people on AIM.
i have ICQ. it's great once u get how to use it, i have ICQ2000a Beta. It's kind of complicated at first, but the only way i communicate with other sysopt users. I use AIM or America Online Instand Messenger. You can download it from www.aol.com (http://www.aol.com) i have netzero, and now my internet experience seems similar to AOL. Except i'm not paying 21.95 a month. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

icq not buggy...hahahahaha.....it is the buggiest piece of software on the net, there has to be at least a thousand programs out there that exploit it. it also has to to be the longest running beta in software history

Did they EVER bring a non Beta version of ICQ out because if they did, i've never seen it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Having said that, it's a pretty good program despite it's bugs and loopholes.
It can just be a little hard to get into at first.

I've been using ICQ for as long as it has been here, and I think I, for one think its the greatest thing ever.

I was reluctant to use it at first (when I started using it a couple of years ago), but I use it more often than email and waaay more than the phone for work related communication. And yeah, it can be buggy - sometimes file transfers don't work with certain people, etc. It also has problems with many firewalls. But, it's a good app.
The main downside? People know you're online and when they message you, you feel compelled to respond immediately for fear of being seen as rude. That can be stressful at times. It's not like a phonecall where you can elect not to answer after looking at the caller ID since the caller won't know if you're actually home or not - they know, in this case http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif. You can always put it into away or N/A mode though.

I've been using it for over a year now and havent had any difficulty with bugs except the first version of 99b. I currently use 99b on 3 computers with no problems. The Zone Alarm and AtGuard firewalls have no problem with ICQ and all of it's functions when they are configured to do so. Use it, enjoy it and keep an eye on the wife when she starts using it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Well, I just downloaded the newest version 2000a. Those who have it, if they want to add me to their contact list, let me know! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
So far I'm having a little trouble finding those here @ SysOpt I can add to my own list. So far I'm awaiting authorization from Mntsnow and Missing the point, so if either of you catch this, let me know!
Seems OK software so far, I'll explore it's capabilities later.

Be sure to read the info on this site since you are an ICQ newbie...and don't pass on those stupid urls or virus messages you're sure to get.
