Okay, I've gotten quite familiar with the controls, weapons, weapon groups and most other aspects of the game, but it seems every bloomin' time i play online, i perpetually get my *** kicked. I prefer not to use the pre-designed mechs. (personal stubbornness) (-1sp) I still don't understand how I can use an assault mech, with a lot of armor, and go down with just 1 hit when nobody is standing around me. What part of this game am I missing?

Does anyone have any suggested Mech designs?

Here's an idea I used when I first got the MAULER in the game.Outfit it with clan U-AC2's(should be able to fit 6 in with the reduced weight of clan weapons) and pick em off from a distance with sustained fire. Use reactive armor so they can't use missiles and move evasively to dodge pp-c's and your only problem is if they have large ER lasers.
There are much better strategies but this is the easiest and most effective.
Good luck. Hellmund

One shot... thats easy, if u r lucky enough to hit (with a powerful weapon) the cockpit of the mech and kill the pilot. These sniper shots r usualy 100 % luck but happen sometimes. :D

My fav configuration is a MadCat with, 6 clan LRMs, 2 ER PPCs, 2 medium lasers. (This design works great in almost all battletech games starting from MechWarrior 1 to Mechcommander 2) hehe :p
